Operations department plays a vital role in any company. An operations intern has a broad role, and the specific responsibilities will vary depending on the company you join, but generally it includes monitoring and analysing the current system of production or provision to check it’s effective, and working out a strategy for improving if necessary. Operations interns are also engaged in helping manage day-to-day activities, analysing statistics, reading and writing reports.
Operations interns also have to do a lot of liaising with other team members, including interacting with managers of different areas in the organization as well as assisting in training and supervising new employees and tracking and measuring staff performance. The skills required involve ability or a willingness to learn how to use web analytics tools, working knowledge of MS Office, strong communication skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, attention to details, etc.
